Arthur Miller’s ‘All My Sons’ was written in the late 1940s and sits alongside other acclaimed Miller classics such as ‘Death of a Salesman’, ‘The Crucible’ and ‘A View From The Bridge’. The background of the plot is based upon a true story reported in a post-war  news article describing how in 1941–43 the Wright Aeronautical Corporation based in Ohio had conspired with army inspection officers to approve defective aircraft engines destined for military use.

“This is Arthur Miller at his best writing. A truly American classic.” The Los Angeles Times

The love of money and the actions one takes to acquire it can create a lifetime of misery and guilt. In this utterly compelling drama, the central figure, Joe Keller, strives to keep the truth of a past crime in the distant past. However, long buried truths are forced to surface and ultimately, the American Dream comes tumbling down for Joe and those closest to him. With no route to escape, characters become imprisoned and implicated by Joe’s guilt and deceit. A tour-de-force plot unfolds from beginning to end.

With a set designed by Gerry Lombard, costumes by Jacinta Florish, lighting design by Michael Finneran, and Stage Management by Brian Griffin, audiences can once again look forward to a quality-laden full-scale production for which College Players have gained a national reputation, over recent years. Behind these mentioned, sits a large and extremely busy team of production volunteers whose skills and passion for theatre we could not do without.

Since they were founded in 1926, the College Players’ mission has been to bring exciting classical and modern theatre to home audiences and further afield. The company encourages, develops, and delivers artistic theatre experiences to local and regional audiences. In so doing, the Company has established a vivid presence in the cultural life of Limerick City and beyond.

College Players Chairman Dave Griffin said, “We are delighted to be returning to the Lime Tree Theatre in November, after our successful run in 2023. The company is once again lucky to boast an experienced and talented cast, who, we are confident, will give Limerick audiences another memorable theatrical experience.

“Welcoming back to the role of director, we have the wonderful Margaret Hough, well known to Limerick theatre followers from her running of Spotlight Stage School and from previous director roles with College on ‘Translations’ in 2019 and ‘Pigtown’ in 2022. We are also delighted to welcome back to the team, another great friend, actress and director, Rebecca Barry in the role of Assistant Director.”

On behalf of College Players, Dave also voiced their particular appreciation for the welcome partnership of The Gaff – and the team led by Monica Spencer, who have been hugely collaborative in providing rehearsal, meeting and set-building facilities for the company throughout the production process.

Director Margaret Hough said, “It’s a delight to be back again with College to direct, having had such a fantastic experience in 2022 with ‘Pigtown’. And a joy to have such a superb local cast who have been so great to work with in the rehearsal room. And it goes without saying that I’m thrilled to be able to work with this fantastic, classic American story – filled with brilliant plotlines, characters, twists and turns. We can’t wait to present it to live audiences. I would also like to acknowledge my assistant Director, Rebecca, and to be supported by an amazing production team who have dedicated so much of their time to realising the vision I have for this show. I believe we have the team, who together will deliver a stage performance that will delight Limerick audiences’ she said.

College Players Theatre Company presents ‘All My Sons’ at Limerick’s Lime Tree Theatre from Wednesday 6th to Saturday 9th November, including Matinee on Sat, 9th Nov.
