The Irish Cancer Society’s annual Colour Dash Limerick takes place this June on Saturday 23 at 12 pm, on the University of Limerick campus, with all proceeds going to the Irish Cancer Society’s mission to stop cancer.
The Colour Dash, sponsored by Aldi Ireland, takes place in four locations across the country this Summer. Since 2016, Aldi has supported the Irish Cancer Society and has helped the society raise over €600,000 through Colour Dash and other fundraising, including sponsorship, collections, and donations. “Aldi is very proud to partner with Irish Cancer Society and supports the Colour Dash for the third year in a row,” said Finbar McCarthy, group buying director of Aldi Ireland.
Colour Dash Limerick is an annual family fun run and is back this Summer. At Colour Dash Limerick, participants run, walk or jog through the course, as they are pelted by powdered paint at each kilometer along the route. Each km represents a different cancer, as well as cancer survivorship.
Each km of the Colour Dash 2018 represents a different type of cancer.
The five kilometers of the Colour Dash are: 1km: Yellow – representing lung cancer, 2km: Green – representing bowel cancer, 3km: Purple – representing cancer survivorship, 4km: Blue – representing prostate cancer, 5km: Pink – representing breast cancer.
The money raised from Colour Dash Limerick goes to support the Irish Cancer Society’s mission to stop cancer. Life-saving cancer research is funded, and services and care for people affected by cancer all over Ireland is also funded. The Irish Cancer Society are 98% reliant on the public for funding, and so events such as Colour Dash Limerick add to their funding.
Tickets are €30 per adult (12 years & over), and €5 per child (under 12). All children must be accompanied by an adult. Upon registration, you will receive a letter with your wristbands, which is to be brought to the event. This wristband will get you your Colour Dash Limerick t-shirt.
