In the true spirit of community and compassion, a special pre-Christmas edition of Come Dine With Us was organised to raise awareness for breast cancer, inspired by the courageous story of local mother-of-four, Christine Costelloe.

Christine, who was diagnosed with breast cancer at just 35 years of age, shared her journey as the event’s special guest. Her diagnosis came as a complete shock; a young, busy mum suddenly facing a life-changing battle.

Her strength and honesty moved everyone involved and reinforced the importance of awareness, early detection, and community support. The special event not only brought people together around the table, but it also raised an incredible €2,224 for breast cancer awareness initiatives.

This heartfelt project would not have been possible without the generous support of local businesses and volunteers. Sincere thanks were extended to Anacotty Food Farms, Key 73, and Esquire Menswear for their contributions, along with the dedicated production team – Shank, Kenneth and their crew – and the many individuals who worked tirelessly behind the scenes, including Michelle Grimes, Aisling, Marius, Shane, Lily, Josephine, Sam, and of course, Christine herself.

Speaking about the event, organisers said the fundraiser “meant the world to us and to everyone who played a part”. They said, “It shows what can happen when a community comes together for something bigger than themselves.”
