Community Finance Ireland (CFI) have been working with community groups and grassroots sports clubs across Limerick to deliver social finance solutions that support local communities and drive Social Impact.

CFI is the most progressive social finance/community loans provider across the island of Ireland and delivers a social return on investment that creates a multiplier effect of €4.85 times the initial investment.

Recently Client Relationship Manager for the Limerick area, Nora Keogh worked with organisations Shannon RFC and Ardagh District Sport and Recreational CLG (Ardagh DSRC) to furnish them with the finance they required to provide their local community with the facilities that they desperately needed.

In the case of Shannon RFC, CFI have worked with them to provide facilities for their female players at their base in Coonagh, North of Limerick City. The investment in new ladies’ changing facilities and a gym has been transformational.

As Captain of the Senior Ladies’ Team Anna Kate Cournane says, “It’s really exciting and encouraging that clubs are integrating women’s playing facilities and infrastructure into their overall plan and that it will start to have a positive impact for years to come. Something as small as having dedicated changing facilities for our women and girls is huge for us. It means we have our own space and that we don’t have to share with the men.”

Similarly in West Limerick, Ardagh DSRC have also invested in new sports facilities including a new multi-purpose astro-turf facility, a floodlit surrounding walkway, a ball wall and car parking facilities. The new facility is used regularly by 28 local sports groups.

The principal of nearby St. Molua’s National School Thomas Greaney says:

“When my pupils come down to use the facility here in Ardagh they leave as a completely different child than when they arrived. You can see a smile on their faces. So, I think it’s a facility that everyone should have in their community.”

Ardagh DSRC and Shannon RFC are just two of the many community organisations that Community Finance Ireland has helped in recent years. CFI want to make sure that community groups have access to the information and funds to help them provide for their local area.

Ardagh DSRC Committee Member Deirdre Ambrose added:

“We would not have been able to get this project off the ground had it not been for CFI. We had an absolutely wonderful experience with them and would have no hesitation in recommending them to any other community group in a similar situation to ours.”

If like Deirdre you are involved in your local community group or grassroots sports club and want to invest in your facilities, but need help getting started- get in touch with Community Finance Ireland today: www.communityfinanceireland.com/contact or give Nora Keogh a call on 086 0492 964.
