Cook Medical is marking 30 years in Limerick, celebrating a major milestone in its Irish operations and reaffirming its long-standing commitment to innovation, patient care, and community impact.
The Limerick operation has grown into a strategic global hub, spanning manufacturing, customer support, and collaborative product development. Since its establishment in 1996, the site has grown significantly and now manufactures 10 percent of Cook’s products for global markets. It has also expanded its capabilities to include centralised commercial activities, customer support, and collaborative product development through its Innovation Centre.

Today, the Limerick site, which employs close to 1,000 people, plays a critical role within Cook Medical’s global operations, enabling the company to deliver medical devices that support healthcare professionals and improve patient outcomes worldwide.
“This Cook Medical 30th anniversary milestone is a reflection of the people who have contributed to Cook Medical’s success in Limerick over the past 30 years,” said Pat Burke, Vice President and General Manager of Cook Medical. “The growth of our Limerick site has been driven by a commitment to innovation and improved patient outcomes, and a clear purpose to empower customers, employees, and our communities to reach their full potential.”
Ongoing investment in Limerick continues to deliver significant regional impact, supporting job creation, strengthening Ireland’s medtech sector, and contributing to local communities through partnerships and philanthropic programmes.
The Limerick site has made a strong contribution to the regional economy, creating employment opportunities and supporting the development of skills and expertise within Ireland’s medtech sector. From fewer than a dozen employees in its early years, it has grown to become an important employer in the region, reflecting the continued investment and confidence in Limerick as a strategic location.
Beyond its business impact, Cook Medical remains deeply connected to the local community. Through strategic partnerships, volunteering and charitable initiatives, the organisation continues to support programmes that create opportunities, strengthen communities and improve quality of life.
