It was recently announced that the Cook Medical Womens Mini Marathon 2018 is set to take place on Sunday, September 30. Now, in its twentieth year, the Cook Medical Women’s Mini Marathon has become firmly established as the premier women’s running event in Limerick, and the surrounding Midwest region.

Title sponsors, Cook Medical is a medical technology company based in Castletroy and is named as one of the largest privately held global medical technology companies, employing 880 people at its Castletroy headquarters. The company works closely with physicians to develop technologies that eliminate the need for open surgery.

The Cook Medical Womens Mini Marathon 2018 secondary sponsors are Limerick’s Live 95fm, the Limerick Leader, and Limerick Athletic Club, who also acts as the race hosts, and have been since it first started with just over 300 participants.

It is said that there will be over 3000 women of all ages and abilities participating in this year’s Cook Medical Womens Mini Marathon 2018, which will take place on the grounds of the University of Limerick.

The run consists of two routes- the first is a 10km route, and the second is 5km. Both routes start at the UL Sports Arena, on the University of Limerick grounds, and will also finish on the campus of the University.

The Cook Medical Womens Mini Marathon 2018 is an event that is synonymous with charities from all over the Limerick region, as many women run or jog to raise needed funds for their own respective charities.

As well as downloadable training schedules on the Limerick Mini Marathon website, there are also regular meet and train groups to help those prepare for the mini-marathon, all this information can be found on the website.

Race pack collection will begin at 11am on the day, followed closely by warm-ups from 11.20pm. The 10km race will begin at 12pm, and the 5km race will start at 12.30pm. Registration can be done online at http://limerickminimarathon.com/registration/.

Standard registration price is €20, student price (12-17yrs) is €17.50. A child of under 12 is €5 to register, however, there will be no race top included. All adult participants of the event will receive a goodie bag, a specially customised long sleeve quarter zip top, and a finishers medal.
