The Corrigan brothers Irish Presidential Elections plan is to whip up a new song, just ahead of the Presidential elections. The minds behind the viral hit ‘There’s no one as Irish as Barack Obama’ are back with a new song up their sleeves.
The Limerick brothers from Castletroy are best known for their viral song ten years ago. A song that was a worldwide viral hit that saw them perform in Washington during President Obama’s inauguration events and generated millions of YouTube hits.
Their newest piece called ‘We love Michael D’, created by rewriting Joan Jett and the Blackhearts’ 1982 hit ‘I love Rock and Roll’ marks their entry into the Irish Presidential Elections.
Ger Corrigan, the lead singer, explained: “What’s not to like about Michael D, Poet, Lover of Sport and queues at the ATM, the man has everything.”
With permission of the Corrigan brothers the song reads as follows:
“Saw him standing at the Bank link Machine
Before matches singin Amhrán na bhFiann
He loves dual poetry
He’s the man for you me
Never mid those dragons denners
And the other three
Singin
We love Michael D
7 more years in the Aras baby
We love Michael D
We’re votin number one Michael D
Everyone one in Ireland knows his name
You’ll find him at the ploughing or in slane
He’s the Prez for you and me
Number one for Michael
He won’t be moving out
Of his Crib you’ll see
Singin
We love Michael D
7 more years in the Aras baby
We love Michael D
We’re votin number one Michael D
Hostin kings and queens and dignatories
Chattin laughin pourin out the tea
He’s the only one
To be our uachtarain
He’s the only one for
You and me
Singin
We love Michael D
7 more years in the Aras baby
We love Michael D
We’re votin number one Michael D
Saw him standing at the Bank link Machine
Before matches singin amhrainn na bhioon
He loves dual poetry
He’s the man for you me
Never mid those dragons denners
And the other three
The song is well in time for the upcoming Presidential elections. It is currently being recorded and will be released on October 14.

Earlier this year in collaboration with the Limerick Gospel Choir the brothers created an anthem for the Limerick Hurling team.
Two months ahead of the All Ireland where Limerick bagged the winner’s cup The Corrigan Brothers created their own version of Billy Joel’s “We didn’t start the Fire”, turning it into “This year the tide is turning, watching sporting Limerick playing Mighty Hurling”.
The song was a tribute to the Limerick hurling team in how far they have come this season, with a hope for it becoming the new Limerick hurling anthem. The Corrigan Brothers performed with Mayor Sean Lynch watching at St Michael’s Church, Denmark Street.
