The workshops will include crafts and activities such as: an intergenerational performance piece inspired by the art of folding sheets, sharing stories of household labour as caring actions and as unseen labour, making mandalas – circular motifs inspired by working together from sieving flour as Street Art, darning, pressing, turning up and mending rips and tears in the social fabric using your own and your family’s clothes as symbols of self-care and collaborating with artists and be part of a global project on Women’s Labour.

Maeve Collins and Julie Griffiths of Fold and Rise said, “This project was created in response to conversations we’ve been having with women around the caring work they carry out and the values and appreciation we hold around it. Labour of Love is about the sharing and celebrating the wealth of knowledge we hold as women and acknowledging the hours of unpaid labour left to women in a way that is fun, thought-provoking and engaging.”

Edel Geraghty, NCCWN Limerick Women’s Network Coordinator, added, “This is a wonderful opportunity to have conversations with women about the nature and value of their care work in such an interesting and creative way”.
