As part of the Guiding Limerick Through Covid-19 plans, Limerick City and County Council is inviting Expressions of Interest from local community groups, companies, creatives and producers for Limerick city and county animations and activities, to take place this July and August.

Proposals should provide family-friendly experiences in our open-air public spaces and urban areas. A fund has been allocated to specifically support costs associated with performer, facilitator, artist and event/ production fees.

This is a limited fund and applications will be assessed on a first-come-first-served basis. Therefore Limerick City and County Council will not be in a position to fund all applications received.

The scheme will remain open until the fund has been allocated. Applicants are strongly advised to include all relevant information regarding activity health and safety, insurance and risk assessments with special attention to COVID-19 guidelines. It is important that organisers engage with all relevant stakeholders, including local residents and businesses within proximity of the activity.

Grants will be awarded to proposals that clearly demonstrate compliance with National Covid-19 Guidelines, and support the principles of the Guiding Limerick Through Covid-19 document.

Fiona McCormack from Tourism, Culture and Arts with Limerick City and County Council said: “The arts and culture sector, like many, was dealt a huge blow with the restrictions imposed to help prevent the spread of Covid-19. During that time, the value of the sector was immeasurable as it found new ways to connect with audiences and help in sustaining people’s wellbeing.”

“Now as we continue to emerge from the lockdown, Limerick City and County Council is giving individuals and groups an opportunity to help animate Limerick’s public and open spaces throughout the summer.”

“If you have an idea, I would urge you to check out the details on Limerick.ie and apply for funding. The grant scheme has limited funds so it’s important you get your application in to us as soon as possible.”
