During Creative Schools Week (which takes place from the 10th to the 14th of May) there will be an emphasis placed on celebrating creativity across the curriculum. On Monday they will kick off the week with a Dance session via Zoom led by Angie Smalis, a talented contemporary dance artist and parent in our school. As the week proceeds the children will engage with the Music Generation program in Limerick which is also being facilitated online this year. Now the children are learning how to hand jive!

Teachers are planning many other creative lessons at the various class levels including rock painting, outdoor pavement art , creative writing sessions and a variety of digital lessons which foster creative skills. The week will conclude with a Drama workshop on Zoom led by Joanna Parkes who is working as a Creative Associate with the school over the past year.

Speaking about the plans for Creative Schools Week Principal of the school Ms Miriam Smyth said, “This past year has been quite unusual for our pupils, who have dealt with all the ups and downs that the pandemic has brought. Creative Schools Week will be the first opportunity our pupils have had in some time to take part in a whole school initiative like this ….you can already feel the buzz of excitement around the school.”
