The Hunt Museum is thrilled to announce the formal opening of the Creepy Crawlies: Love/Hate exhibition on Thursday, 11th July
The exhibition aims to deepen understanding of insects’ vital role in our ecosystem, featuring pieces from the Hunt Museum’s collection that highlight their representation in art and artefacts.

The launch of the Creepy Crawlies: Love/Hate Exhibition will feature two distinguished guest speakers: renowned garden designer Diarmuid Gavin and biologist, environmentalist, broadcaster, and author Éanna Ní Lamha.

Creepy Crawlies: Love/Hate Exhibition will be open to the public from Friday, 12th July until 21st November 2024. This exhibition is part of The Hunt Museum’s thematic focus for the year – biodiversity.

The exhibition aims to deepen understanding of insects’ vital role in our ecosystem, featuring pieces from the Hunt Museum’s collection that highlight their representation in art and artefacts. Families, students, and insect enthusiasts can enjoy live demonstrations, participate in educational workshops, and view unique insect-inspired art.

Teresa Crowley, Director at the Hunt Museum said, “We are thrilled to bring this exciting exhibition to the Hunt Museum. It  is to make learning about insects both fun and informative. This exhibition is a perfect blend of our collection, science and art, designed to captivate visitors of all ages.”

This is a collaborative effort between the Hunt Museum and a variety of local partners, including the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, Limerick City & County Council and The Heritage Council.

Exhibition Highlights include interactive and immersive displays, educational workshops led by entomologists and environmental experts, a focus on local Irish insect species alongside global themes, and accessible features to ensure everyone can enjoy the exhibition.
