The sponsorship allows local clubs and community organisations to raise vital funds for their causes while contributing to one of the standout weekends on Limerick’s calendar.

On Thursday afternoon, representatives from volunteer clubs gathered at the Crescent Shopping Centre to receive cheques totalling €33,400, presented by Centre Manager Brian O’Leary.

Speaking at the presentation, Brian O’Leary said, “We are thrilled to again sponsor the Great Limerick Run Volunteer Program. It is great to see the community spirit and hard work on the day along with the variety of clubs and societies who get involved. It’s been a pleasure working with Sliabh, Jordan and the team from Bear Group also, they have made the whole experience so seamless for us. The Great Limerick Run is one of the main weekends on the calendar year for Limerick, and we are delighted to be a part of that!”

The volunteer network handled water station management, finish line operations, medal and refreshment distribution, and route marshalling alongside law enforcement, work that kept more than 20,000 runners safe, supported, and moving across the weekend.

Sliabh Wells, Managing Director of The Bear Group, said, “You don’t deliver a weekend like this without people who care, and that’s what 750 volunteers in Limerick gave us. Every cheque presented today represents real hours, real effort, and real commitment from clubs around the region  and it goes straight back into the work they do in their own communities. Crescent Shopping Centre has supported  the Volunteer Programme year after year, and we’re proud to keep building it with them. Hitting 20,000 runners for the first time is a moment for the event, but the Volunteer Programme is what makes it a moment for Limerick.”

The Volunteer Programme has become a defining feature of the Regeneron Great Limerick Run, channelling funds directly to grassroots clubs while giving them a central role in one of the country’s largest road race weekends.
