The Crescent Shopping Centre is sponsoring the Regeneron Great Limerick Run Volunteer Programme for 2025!
The run takes place Sunday, May 4th and enables the recognition and support of local volunteer groups from a diverse array of clubs and organisations.
This sponsorship not only fosters community engagement but also helps these groups raise vital funds for their respective endeavours. The opportunity to volunteer is open to everybody, and is a great opportunity for clubs and societies to get out and show their support for the local community as well as raise awareness and funds for their cause.
Brian O’Leary, Crescent Shopping Centre General Manager expressed his enthusiasm about sponsoring the programme which is “a good opportunity to give back to the local community”.
The 2025 Regeneron Great Limerick Run, taking place during the May Bank Holiday Weekend, is the largest mass-participation sporting event outside of Dublin and this year is expecting a record number of participants for 2025.
“The Volunteer Program is part of the Great Limerick Run, and the volunteers that are rounded up help on the day of the event – water stations, stewarding, making sure everybody has a really safe and enjoyable time,” said Brian, adding, “We’re just delighted to be a part of it.”
The Crescent’s support enables the recognition and support of local volunteer groups from a diverse array of clubs and organisations, and the sponsorship not only fosters community engagement but also helps these groups raise vital funds for their respective endeavours.

Brian explained, “It’s become such a prestigious event in the calendar in Limerick. It’s grown every year, strength to strength and I think for us, it’s a good opportunity to give back to the local community.”
The 2024 Regeneron Great Limerick Run saw a remarkable turnout with 14,000 participants taking to the streets. As the runners journeyed their way through the 26-mile course, a dedicated team of over 530 volunteers provided supervision, marshalling, assistance and support.
The opportunity to volunteer is open to everybody, and Brian explained that it is a great opportunity for clubs and societies to get out and show their support for the local community as well as raise awareness and funds for their cause.
“I remember being on-site last year. It was incredible, the buzz around the city,” Brian said, adding, “And for the clubs to get involved, they come out, their volunteers get involved and it’s a really good fundraiser opportunity for them. And also it’s a chance for you to help everyone taking part in the run to possibly raise money for a charity or community group.”
Speaking at the launch of this year’s event, Niall O’Leary, Senior Vice President and site Head at Regeneron Ireland, shared his excitement about the upcoming event, “As title sponsors of the Regeneron Great Limerick Run for the fifth consecutive year, we are thrilled to once again be part of this extraordinary event, which has become a highlight of Ireland’s running calendar. With over 15,000 participants, this event embodies the spirit of togetherness, bringing competitive athletes and fun-loving participants side by side in an atmosphere of determination and camaraderie.”

Sliabh Wells, Managing Director of The Bear Group who organised the event, said, “It is brilliant to be back for another year of the Regeneron Great Limerick Run. Year after year this event has continued to outdo itself, and I am sure 2025 will be no different. Last year we had over 15,000 participants take to the streets and are on course for another record number this year. We also managed to fundraise over €300K for Local and National Charities, and this will once again be a big focus for us.”
Regeneron Great Limerick Run 2025 was officially launched in January, with this year’s edition promising to be bigger and better than ever over the May Bank Holiday Weekend and registration is open through the event website.
