Brian Casey, from the Irish Emergency Alliance charity, travelled to Limerick to receive the donation and was grateful for the first payment from them.

For the first time in 3 years the Curraghchase 10K 2022 event will mark a long-awaited return to the beautiful scenic trails of Curraghchase Forest Park. Now in its 11th year and sponsored by The Westward Ho Bar & Grill, the Curraghchase 10K 2022 Run/Walk is being held on the Saturday, August 13th, 2022, through the picturesque woodland area of Curraghchase Forest Park, and around the former residence of famous Irish poet Aubrey De Vere.

Speaking to James O’Shaughnessy, Chairperson of the 10K committee, he was thrilled to inform us about their chosen charity this year; The Irish Emergency Alliance who are actively responding to the current crisis in Ukraine. This is done through local partners in Ukraine and the neighbouring countries of Poland, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia, to help those who have fled conflict by providing food, shelter, blankets, medical supplies and emotional support.

Thanks to all their supporters, the Curraghchase 10K 2022 committee was able to offer an initial donation of €5,000 to the Irish Emergency Alliance at the end of June to assist in their efforts in Ukraine. Brian Casey, from the charity, travelled to Limerick to receive the donation and was grateful for the first payment from them. The committee plans to meet Brian once again after the event in August.

For everyone that is familiar with the Curraghchase 10K, it still has all the features that make it so special. An incredibly scenic yet challenging course, a great selection of sponsors, an amazing charity partner; The Irish Emergency Alliance, great jerseys & medals and the now infamous 10K feast at the end of the event for all who take part.

James explained that the event is selling out fast, with jerseys and medals for the first 500 people to register. He outlined how ‘the interest in our event is always magnificent, but we believe that our unique jersey and medal design, which reflect our chosen charity, is always a draw for people’. This year’s kit can be seen in the pictures below and across all their social platforms.
