Organisers of the Curraghchase 10km are calling on the people of Limerick to partake in the Curraghchase 10km Run/Walk, which will be held on Sunday, August 11. The event is in its 8th year, and this year organisers have chosen to support TLC4CF. TLC4CF is dedicated to improving essential health services and supports for people with Cystic Fibrosis living in the Mid-West of Ireland.

The donations will be given to TLC4CF, which will contribute greatly to the fit-out and provision of life-changing equipment for the new infection-controlled facility and the Paediatric CF unit in the Children’s Ark at the University Regional Hospital, Limerick.

A Curraghchase 10km committee member, Kayleigh Maher, said, “Whether you are an enthusiastic runner looking for a challenge, or looking for a walk through some of Munster’s most stunning scenery, then the Curraghchase 10km has it all.”

Pacers will be available on the day to help anyone achieve a personal best. Free physiotherapy sessions afterwards for all participants, which is hugely popular with our runners. The event will conclude with a ‘10k Feast’ at Kilcornan Community Centre.

TLC4CF was founded by friends and family of people with Cystic Fibrosis, from Tipperary, Limerick and Clare. TLC4CF previously raised over €6 million, entirely through charitable donations and local fundraising events, which was used to build a new Adult CF Centre in the grounds of the University Hospital Limerick. The CF unit comprises two floors of the Leben building and caters for 120 adult cystic fibrosis patients. One floor is an ambulatory care day centre and the other floor is a nine-bed inpatient ward with ensuite facilities and HEPA-filtration to help prevent cross-infection.

With less than two weeks to go, there is still time to register here. Registration fee is €25.

There are free jerseys and medals for the first 500 people registered.
