This year’s pumpkin patch is extra special as it marks ten years of pumpkin-picking

This year’s pumpkin patch is extra special as it marks ten years of pumpkin-picking, storytelling, and family fun. The first weekend has been a resounding success with the sun shining to add to the great atmosphere.

The Curraghchase Pumpkin Patch will continue the weekend of 18th and 19th of October, and then the following Saturday, the 25th, through to Halloween itself, the 31st

Set in the heart of County Limerick, Curraghchase Garden Centre has become a pillar of the local community, known not only for its beautiful plants, welcoming atmosphere and award winning Potting Shed Cafe,  but also for being a family-run business that brings people together each year to celebrate the changing seasons. What started as a small local gathering has grown into one of the most popular autumn events in the region — and this milestone year promises to be the best yet.

Visitors can look forward to a jam-packed lineup of activities for all ages. The highlight, as always, is the pumpkin harvest itself. Families can head out into the pumpkin patch, wander through rows of vibrant orange pumpkins, and pick the perfect one to take home. From big, bold beauties to small, quirky shapes, there’s a pumpkin for everyone.

Once you’ve chosen your pumpkin, you can roll up your sleeves at the carving station, where tools and templates are provided to help you turn it into a spooky or silly creation. It’s a great hands-on activity that always gets everyone smiling — and covered in pumpkin seeds!

When it’s time to take a break, make your way to The Potting Shed Cafe

For something a little more relaxing, gather round at the storytelling sessions, where tales of Spookley the square pumpkin are brought to life. It’s the perfect way to add a little magic to your visit.

And for those who like their autumn adventures on the spooky side, don’t miss the Spooky Tunnel — a favourite feature of the festival. It’s all in good fun, offering just the right mix of laughter and light-hearted frights for both kids and grown-ups.

When it’s time to take a break, make your way to The Potting Shed Cafe which will be open throughout the festival. There you’ll find homemade treats, warming drinks, and seasonal goodies to keep your energy up.

Tickets for the Pumpkin Patch Festival can be booked online through the Curraghchase Garden Centre website, with multiple time slots available each day. Early booking is strongly advised — this event sells out quickly every year.

The team at Curraghchase say this tenth anniversary is a proud moment for them. As a family-run garden centre, they’ve worked hard to build something that goes beyond plants and pumpkins — a place where families can make memories together as come together in celebration.

“We’re thrilled to be celebrating ten years of the Pumpkin Patch Festival,” said the Conway family “It’s been amazing to see it grow over the years and to welcome back so many familiar faces. It’s become a real autumn tradition for families from Limerick and beyond.”
