Final year students from Mary Immaculate College’s BA in Contemporary and Applied Theatre Studies present Cyrano at Lime Tree Theatre from April 30 to May 2

Mary Immaculate College‘s BA in Contemporary and Applied Theatre Studies bring a joyous, gender-flipped retelling of Edmond Rostand’s much-loved play, ‘Cyrano’, to the Lime Tree Theatre stage from April 30 to May 2.
This reimagined version of Cyrano has been adapted by Australian playwright and television star Virginia Gay and is directed by Limerick’s renowned theatre-maker, Ann Blake. Audiences can expect a production brimming with wit, warmth, and theatrical magic. Far from a conventional romance, this version offers a love letter to hope, to language and longing, and to the transformative power of performance itself.
At the heart of the story is Cyrano, the most interesting person in any room; a wordsmith, a charmer. She works twice as hard and runs twice as fast as the pretty boys, because she’s deeply ashamed of something about herself.
Enter Roxanne: brilliant and beautiful, with a penchant for poetry and a way with words, just like Cyrano. But Roxanne only has eyes for Yan: hot, manly Yan; all brawn-and-no-brains Yan; who is dumbstruck around Roxanne. Probably shy, right? Until suddenly he starts saying the most amazing things. The twist? It’s Cyrano feeding the lines, crafting love letters that may win Roxanne’s heart but keep Cyrano in the shadows.
This production blends comedy, charm, and poignancy, all brought to life by seven energetic performers who revel in the lo-fi magic of live theatre. With clever wordplay, aching romance, and a contemporary edge, Cyrano at The Lime Tree Theatre is a performance not to be missed.
Shows run nightly at 8pm from April 30th to May 2nd. Tickets are priced at €15, with a special €10 rate for students. Book early to experience this unique and uplifting retelling of a classic tale.
