For the fourth year running, Dance Limerick will host a Professional Development Week for Traditional Dancers from September 1 to 5, 2024
Dance artists are invited to submit their expressions of interest to participate in this 5-day intensive led by world renowned dancer and choreographer Colin Dunne, which will focus on solo work, and the nurturing and examination of dancers’ unique physicality and creative voice.
Following from the success of previous editions, Dance Limerick is looking for emerging and mid-career professional traditional dance artists who are already making work and professional dance performers who are looking to stimulate their creative practice. Professional dancers across all styles of traditional Irish dance and from percussive dance traditions outside of Ireland who wish to expand and re-focus their approach to dance-making and performance are welcome to send in their applications for this opportunity.
Similarly to past editions, the week will include daily morning classes, improvisation exercises focusing on movement and sound-making, reflective writing exercises and short compositional studies.
This opportunity aims to stimulate the participants’ movement practice and imagination, allowing space for reflection on and development of each participant’s unique artistic voice. Participants will also receive meaningful feedback and support from Colin and from peers in an open and nurturing environment.
Those interested in participating are invited to submit by email an Expression of Interest outlining their dance history, the current focus of their work, and why they feel this opportunity would benefit their practice. More information on how to apply can be found on the Dance Limerick website
The deadline for applications is on Monday, April 18.
