Dance Limerick and Age and Opportunity bring together a new intergenerational performance project during Bealtaine Festival 2024

Dance Limerick has partnered with Age and Opportunity, building on the success of last year’s collaboration, to bring together a new intergenerational performance project for all to enjoy during Bealtaine Festival 2024.

In this year’s vibrant performance, Dance Limerick’s High Kicks over 50s group collaborate with local dance artists and children 7-14 yrs from the newly formed Inclusive Dance Club. Together they will explore movement and imagination within an experimental world created live by musician Paddy Mulcahy. This creative, improvisational choreographic process will be led by DL. BRIDGE Artist Katy Hewison, culminating in a performance experience presented at Dance Limerick during the Bealtaine Festival week.

Movement is sparked by feeling, sound and connection.

This will be a relaxed performance, that is, a show adapted to suit those who might benefit from a more relaxed environment when attending a performance, including people with an Autism Spectrum Condition, sensory and communication disorders, or a learning disability.

In order to make ‘Being’ an accessible experience for all, we will share pre-show information with attendees, describing the venue and what to expect. Audiences who need to move or make noise during the performance are free to do so. A separate quiet space will be available during the show where people can go if they need a break.

We welcome audiences to settle and get comfortable in the relaxed environment of the Dance Limerick Performance Space, where they will be transported into a world of atmospheric music, lights, colours, and joyous dancing that represent the spirit of community and celebration of Bealtaine Festival 2024.

See ‘Being’ at Dance Limerick on Saturday 18 May at 2 pm at Dance Limerick, John’s Square, Limerick.
