Dance Limerick Summer Holiday is making its way to St John’s
Dance Limerick is delighted to announce details of Summer Holiday, a performance by our dance project for people over 50yrs, led by choreographer Kristyn Fontanella. Join us for the tongue-in-cheek dance show Summer Holiday in Dance Limerick, Sunday 20th May at 3 pm. Free admission, although booking is required.
Summer Holiday draws inspiration from the greatest hits of the 60s, 70s, and 80s including Simon & Garfunkel and The Beach Boys alongside modern and classic dance moves. The piece is performed by The High Kicks of Limerick, an ensemble of dancers who have are part of the ongoing project. Dance Limerick’s over 50s dance project began in 2015 and meets once a week on Thursday Dance Limerick’s over 50s dance project began in 2015 and meets once a week on Thursday afternoons, 2-3:15 pm for a fun and social dance class. Each year the group are led by a professional choreographer, this year it’s Kristyn Fontanella, to produce a performance for the public.
Dance Limerick promotes professional dance in Limerick and beyond, providing opportunities for dance to be created, experienced and discussed in many ways, by all ages. Founded in 2013, the organisation is based at John’s Square in Limerick city and supports artist residencies, performances, classes, talks, and workshops. Dance Limerick is funded by the Arts Council and Limerick City and County Council performing art and a participatory activity which is open to everyone. Its activities are pioneering, targeting all sections of the population in an exciting and innovative manner to create a genuine curiosity for dance.
The performance will take place in Dance Limerick, St. John’s Church, John’s Square.
