Dance Limerick ‘Step Up’ their summer programme with 2025 Step Up Dance Project and new weekly classes
Dance Limerick steps into summer with the 15th edition of Step Up Dance Project, and announces a new edition of Pride Dance Project and new weekly classes for all

Dance Limerick welcome the 2025 Step Up Dance Project participants and team next week to for the 15th edition of the programme.
Alice Gavigan, Sophie Gray, Ciara Hannon, Luke Maziarek and Catriona O’Connor will spend eight weeks in Limerick, working at Dance Limerick and the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance. Under the guidance of curator Fearghus Ó Conchuir and rehearsal director Lucia Kickham, they will work with choreographer Philip Connaughton to develop a new dance piece to be shown at Dance Limerick and Dance Ireland in late July.
This year’s extended edition will allow participants to benefit from a two-week placement on Luail’s Moving in Collaboration International Intensive at the Irish World Academy. For the two weeks that the dancers will be at UL, they will have the chance to delve deeper into the company’s approaches to composition and choreography.
The dance group has also announced the return of its much-loved Pride Dance Project for 2025, giving people the chance to get involved in a creative project and to make new connections in a fun and supportive environment.
For the third consecutive year, Dance Limerick is running a contemporary dance project for all LGBTQ+ identifying people who wish to move their bodies and meet new friends while learning something new.

Organisers said, “This year, the project includes dance workshops where we learn from different teachers, experiencing different ways of moving our bodies and expressing ourselves. We will then celebrate with our very own Pride Dance Party as part of Limerick Pride celebrations.”
Also featuring in this year’s summer programme are ‘Movement for your Mind’ classes. Dance Limerick has partnered with Limerick Mental Health Association for one more year to bring a set of classes to support mental and physical health for people aged 18 and over. These are drop-in classes, so you can come in when it suits you best, or join them for the ten consecutive sessions.
