By ilovelimerick correspondent Frances Watkins

Please come along and support the Darcy Family Benefit Concert in Dolans at 8 pm on Thursday 16th of November.

The wife and child of Satia Darcy, son of Tony Darcy a well known local Limerick musician died tragically in Dubai in the last few weeks. The Darcy family are originally from Limerick with the parents of Satia still living here. Satie along with his wife Mildred and son Kieran moved to Abu Dhabi before settling in Dubai. Tragically Mildred and Kieran passed away almost six weeks ago.

The funeral took place in Dublin almost two weeks ago. The purpose of the benefit night is to raise funds that will hopefully offset some of the expenses incurred by the events that took place there, the funeral expenses, and other costs involved in bringing the bodies back to Ireland for burial. The family of Mildred is from Venezuela so there was also the cost of them traveling to Ireland for the funerals.

The Darcy Family Benefit Concert will feature some of Limericks finest musicians all giving their services free on the night, as are the Dolan family in their very generous offer of the hall and whatever help is needed. Some of the bands performing at the Darcy Family Benefit Concert are The Funk Junkies, Johnny Fean, Blind Dog, Paul O’ Sullivan and much more.

Mike O’Donovan, one of the people involved in organising the event spoke to ilovelimerick saying “Everyone has been great with their support. People donating their services and willing to help, everyone has been great”.

The Darcy Family Benefit Concert has also received sponsorship from many Limerick businesses including Modern Man Barbers amongst others. Tickets are €10 and will be available at the door, with doors opening at 7 pm and the concert starting at 8 pm. All proceeds will go to the Darcy family to help with the costs incurred by the tragic events.
