The winners of Team Limerick Clean-Up’s 2024 ‘Decorate a BIG TLC Christmas Tree’ competition have been announced

Team Limerick Clean-Up (TLC) launched its ‘Decorate a BIG TLC Christmas Tree’ competition at the end of November, asking pupils across Limerick to decorate a big Christmas tree using recycled and recyclable materials.
The aim of the competition was to raise awareness of TLC and highlight the importance of protecting the environment amongst younger generations. This collaborative project also provided pupils with an opportunity to be creative while working together as a team.
Team Limerick Clean-Up received over 140 trees from 54 primary schools across Limerick City and County and the judges were extremely impressed by the creativity and imagination that went into every entry. First, second and third place in each category (Junior, Intermediate, Senior, Additional Educational Needs) received vouchers for school equipment.
The first-place winners of each category were celebrated at a special prize giving event at the International Rugby Experience today. The winners were presented with their prizes and the chance to meet TLC co-founders JP McManus and Helen O’Donnell and Limerick Senior Hurling Manager John Kiely. All Christmas tree entries have been on display in the International Rugby Experience for the last two weeks.

Team Limerick Clean-Up Co-Founder JP McManus said: “We were delighted to present the winning class groups with their prizes for TLC’s Christmas Tree Competition. We had 54 primary schools take part and would like to thank all the teachers and staff for facilitating this competition among their pupils. It is great to see younger generations learning more about the environment and the importance of keeping Limerick clean and tidy.”
