Limerick Chamber announces new CEO Deirdre Ryan

Limerick Chamber is today pleased to announce that it has appointed well-known businesswoman, marketeer and Limerick native Deirdre Ryan as its new CEO.

Deirdre Ryan will take up the post in August, replacing Dr James Ring, who in April announced he was vacating the post after three successful years to take up a senior role in Limerick headquartered international consultancy company, Ingenium.

An honours degree graduate in Business Studies from UL and a holder of a Post Graduate Diploma in Digital Marketing from the Digital Marketing Institute, Ms Ryan brings a wealth of experience to the role.  This includes as the founder and CEO of an award-winning Limerick based SME, SPARK Marketing, and also as Executive Director of Limerick based international aid agency Bóthar.

Congratulating Ms Ryan on her appointment, Limerick Chamber President Dr Mary Shire said:  “Deirdre brings a breath of experience to the Chamber and we were struck by her enthusiasm for the post, her passion for Limerick but even more importantly by her vision for the Chamber and her innovative ideas.  As founder of her own company Deirdre understands what it is like to do business in the region and the challenges and opportunities of running an SME. The Chamber has gone from strength to strength in the past number of years but we need to continue to be relevant to our members in a fast-changing business environment.   We want to expand the sphere of influence of the Chamber to a national level and a strong brand will help us achieve this. Deirdre’s experience in marketing and brand building will be really helpful and she has the right skill set and experience to lead the Chamber in its next phase”.

Speaking about her appointment as CEO, Deirdre Ryan said, “I’m delighted and honoured to have been offered the role as CEO of Limerick Chamber.  As a proud Limerick person, I have watched on with great pleasure as the economic revitalization of Limerick has taken hold over recent years.  Very visible in all of that has been the role that Limerick Chamber played, not least through the energy and innovation of its CEO James Ring.

“My role is now to carry that momentum forward and ensure that impetus is not alone maintained but enhanced.  I have personal experience of the key role that the Chamber plays in making sure that we have a pro-business operating environment in Limerick, while at the same time providing the support that our larger employers, including multi-nationals, need at their level.  It’s an important role and one I am really looking forward to taking on, not least making sure Limerick Chamber continues to influence at all the right levels so that the economic resurgence we have enjoyed here over recent years is merely a beginning”.
