Limerick’s own up and coming designer, Aoife McNamara is opening her first shop/studio in Adare, Co, Limerick.

The cottage is now being renovated to fit Aoife’s dream of what an Aoife Ireland shop/studio should look like.

The young Irish designer is making waves in the world of fashion, designer Aoife McNamara from Mungret, Limerick founded her fashion label, Aoife Ireland, in 2019 for one purpose and one purpose only, to empower women with clothes that matter.

After graduating from Limerick School of Art & Design with an honour’s degree in Fashion in 2018, McNamara moved to Paris for six months to gain experience working for different brands. It was during this period the graduate realised she wanted to start her own business.

Aoife’s brand already has some very famous fans. Her designs have been seen on the likes of Niamh Cullen, Suzanne Jackson, Louise Cooney, Erika Fox (Retro Flame) and Niamh de Brun who’ve all sung the talented designer’s praises for her stunning creations.

She has won many awards in her short time as a fashion designer such as the Gossies award 2020, and the Irish made award 2019 Fashion.

Aoife McNamara has a mission to promote fashion that is at peace with the planet. She strives to ensure that each piece of clothing is made sustainably and ethically. Her clothing brand is inspired by a unique blend of the past and present, growing up on the island of Ireland the desire to protect and celebrate the natural surroundings became integral to the design process.

Her website and blog Aoife Mc Namara.Com is her online world recording everything from her travels, the big bad world of the fashion industry and most importantly sustainability. Aoife said, “An area I love to explore is sustainability which is my number one goal. Sustainability in my everyday lifestyle as well as in the fashion industry is another very big passion that I truly believe in and I know is very important to share for generations to come. My hope for the future of aoifemcnamara.com is to have a 100% sustainable fashion blog content. But as they say everyone has to start somewhere! – I definitely believe, starting small is better than not starting at all!”

Recently, Aoife turned the key in the door of her first studio/shop – in one of the famous thatched cottages in Adare.

Aoife, who has been steadily building her profile online, announced on Instagram.

“Here she is,” she posted, “our first @aoife_ireland studio/shop, an Irish cottage located in the magical Adare village…..can’t believe I am actually typing this – feels like a dream!!!!”

She added, “We are so ready and excited for this”.

It was just last year that McNamara contacted her local enterprise office in Limerick and enrolled in the Start Your Own Business Programme, which gave her the tools to launch AOIFE Ireland last October.

Aoife is now hard at work cottage renovating the cottage to fit her dream of what an Aoife Ireland shop/studio should look like. This is just the start of this young fashion designer’s expanding business. Congrats Aoife!!
