Limerick Digital Artist Designs Artwork for Paloma Faith

Another example of Kens Work.

Talented Limerick photographer and digital artist Ken Coleman has seen his design selected in a competition to create artwork for musician Paloma Faith.

The results of the competition, hosted by the website Talenthouse, were announced last week, with Coleman winning the Community Choice award. The British songstress shared Coleman’s design on her social media accounts, including her Twitter account, which boasts more than 500,000 followers. Gustavo Santos won the selected artist award for his ‘Vision of Paloma Faith’.

The Limerick artist has won a small cash prize for his efforts, but hopes that the exposure gleaned from the competition will help him to get more work with record labels and musicians worldwide.

“It was my first time entering a competition on this site and I have to say it is very inspiring and great for artists to have something to work towards,” he explained. “I think it’s a fantastic opportunity for designers of all ages to find briefs to build their portfolios with. I would love the chance to work with creative artists like this in the future,” he said, “the likes of Lady Gaga for example, I think would be a great one.”

Asked to explain the design behind the selected ‘Paloma 1’ image, Ken said: “The process involved deconstructing her latest album cover and then investigating textures and colours. “I used reference images from her promo shots and through art and 3D programs I created her portrait. The layout was influenced by her style as well as looking to stained glass church windows for inspiration.”

The competition was a public vote, and Ken said he “got so much support from local and friends abroad, it was incredible. “I got lots of support from Limerick for which I am very grateful,” he added.

Congratulations Ken. You are an amazing talent and I am thrilled for you. Check out his website www.artofkencoleman.com.
