Limerick City and County Council also invites applications from professional musicians based in Limerick who wish to be considered for a Bursary of up to €4,000 for the development of work/professional skills in memory of Dolores O’Riordan. The singer, songwriter and lead vocalist with The Cranberries was one of Ireland’s most enduringly popular artists. This Dolores O Riordan Music Bursary is an award to honour her memory and to support a Limerick professional musician to develop their career.

Both awards schemes are to support professional artists to develop their artistic practice. They are designed to support the development of Limerick based professional artists through any means that will demonstratively contribute to an artist’s development such as

· Costs relating to the production of a specific body of new artistic work – development of new work for exhibition, publication or presentation.

· Costs relating to improving your knowledge – research or short-term courses in Ireland or a structured mentoring relationship.

· Costs relating to improving your professional capacities – such as website development, online supports, or documentation.

· Other – or any purpose that contributes to the removal of existing barriers to an artist’s development.

Limerick City and County Council Arts Officer Pippa Little said both schemes are in line with the Limerick Cultural Strategy aim to grow Limerick’s cultural capacity by retaining and attracting creative practitioners to live and work in Limerick.

“Limerick City and County Council is delighted to continue to support our creatives at this time, with the Individual Arts Bursaries and the Dolores O’Riordan Music Bursary. These bursaries support the creation of new work, from inception to completion. They offer the opportunity for applicants to select what is most appropriate for them, in their application proposals. There have been amazing new projects developed through these awards previously, and we look forward to seeing this year’s proposals.”

Those applying for either grant scheme are advised to please read the eligibility guidelines and criteria carefully before completing the application.

The closing date for receipt of applications for both schemes is 4 pm, Wednesday 25 August 2021.
