Aldi granted planning permission for €11.5 million store in Dooradoyle
€11.5 million Dooradoyle Aldi store granted planning permission creating up to 30 permanent positions in the new store
Aldi has been given the green light by An Bord Pleanála for the construction of its new €11.5 million store in Dooradoyle
The plans, unveiled in November 2021 to build a new €11.5 million store in Dooradoyle will create 50 jobs during the construction period and up to 30 permanent positions once the store opens.
Research commissioned by ALDI has found huge support among shoppers surveyed in Dooradoyle for a new ALDI store. The study of shoppers living and working in the area, conducted by independent market research agency Behaviour & Attitudes showed the store would be well-supported with 88 per cent of interviewed shoppers claiming an ALDI store in the area would mean “better value grocery shopping”.
Located on Dooradoyle Road, the new store will create up to 30 permanent positions upon opening, with up to 50 jobs supported during the construction period of the store, due to open in Q1 2025.
The new store, which is being built on a previously unused greenfield site, will feature ALDI’s award-winning Project Fresh layout. The 1,315sqm store will be powered by 100% green electricity, supported by 90sqm of solar panels on its grass roof.
Colin Breslin, Managing Director of Buying and Services, ALDI Ireland said the group was “delighted to receive the final grant of planning permission” for the new store.
“This, along with construction on our new Roches Street store, and Moyross due to commence shortly, will more than double our footprint in Limerick City over the next 2 years,” said Mr Breslin.
ALDI Currently works with over 330 Irish food and drink producers and spent €1.1 billion with Irish suppliers in 2023.
