Down Syndrome Limerick (DSL) aims to support families and individuals with Down Syndrome throughout their lives, through a range of social, educational and developmental activities.

The DSL fundraising spinathons will take place in Limerick Milk Market, Jetland Shopping Centre, the Crescent Shopping Centre and Newcastle West.

The Spinathon at Limerick Milk Market will take place from 8 am to 2 pm, while the Newcastle West Farmer’s Market event will take place from 11 am to 3 pm. The fundraising cycles at Crescent Shopping Centre and Jetland Shopping Centre will take place from 10 am to 3 pm.

Static bikes used across the county will be provided by the Down Syndrome Limerick team on the day of the event. A number of local businesses, personalities and representatives will also be getting involved and committing to having a spin for a good cause.

Gyms, schools, colleges and companies are being encouraged to hold their own Spinathons, following in the footsteps of Fitzgeralds Woodlands House Hotel, Adare which held two spin classes in aid of DSL on Monday, June 20.

Down Syndrome Limerick recognise the importance of early intervention and developing communication ability for people with Down Syndrome, with due regard to the person’s individuality, which guides everything they do.

They are a support system from diagnosis to adulthood, and as a parent-led, non-government-funded organisation they depend on the generosity of the people of Limerick to keep their services of speech, physical and occupational therapy (as well as social activities) operating for their members.

DSL encourages Limerick people to come out, get involved and, most importantly, support the members of Down Syndrome Limerick throughout this exciting event. The Spinathons are a great incentive to get active while also supporting a very important cause and allowing them to continue their incredible work.

If you can’t attend a DSL Spinathon, donations can be made online HERE
