The Down Syndrome Limerick youth club offers a safe space for young people with Down syndrome to engage in meaningful activities, build social connections, and develop essential life skills in a safe and supportive environment.

The club facilitates a range of activities designed to enhance social skills, promote physical well-being, and encourage creative expression. Activities include art, music, first aid training, and specialised programmes like yoga and safety talks with local Gardaí.

For families, the youth club is also a valuable lifeline. It provides parents and guardians with peace of mind knowing that their children are in a safe and understanding environment where they can interact with others who share similar experiences.

It offers valuable support networks for families, as they connect with others who are navigating similar journeys.

Additionally, the club fosters inclusivity within the wider community by promoting understanding and appreciation of the unique abilities of individuals with Down syndrome.

The relationships that form within the club are not only fulfilling for the members, but they help break down barriers and challenge societal stereotypes.

This year Down Syndrome Ireland is celebrating for the month of March, starting off by launching limited-edition ‘Lots of Socks’ socks.

Schools, communities and workplaces are encouraged to host Lots of Socks parties wearing their most vibrant socks while raising awareness and vital funds for Down Syndrome Ireland.

The theme this year is Support Our Dreams. Everyone has the right to support and the right to dream big. Down Syndrome Ireland needs your help to ensure our members can live the life they’ve always dreamed of.
