Urban Co-op raises the bar for the role of food in maintaining wellness with Dr David Unwin FRCGP educational event on Saturday, October 19th
The Urban Co-op are raising the bar for the role of food in maintaining our wellness with their latest educational event as highly acclaimed and award-winning General Practitioner Dr David Unwin is coming to Limerick on Saturday, October 19, 2024.
Through his dedicated work at his surgery in the UK he has pioneered a dietary approach of low-carb diet support for patients with diabetes. The results he has experienced are remarkable and charted, bringing over a hundred patients into remission of diabetes is no mean feat and The Urban Co-op are eager to showcase his strategies and approach.
Dr Unwin was made a UK Royal College of General Practitioners expert clinical advisor in 2015 for his dedicated efforts within the areas of patient communication and type 2 diabetes. His practice has recorded significant savings on medication by using this approach and he is eager to spread the knowledge he has learned to doctors, nurses and dieticians.
Anne Maher MD of The Urban Co-op says, “It has taken us time to bring Dr Unwin to Ireland but we are so taken by his inspirational work, we wanted to share this with Limerick. Our ultra processed food environments are crippling society with symptoms of diabetes and obesity. Medication is highly promoted as the solution.
“We want to show that food can have remarkable effects instead and Dr. David Unwin provides compelling real life stories of what happens when you give patients a choice and support. As always food locally produced provides an answer!”
The event will be in the Pavilion at University of Limerick on 19th October and will feature an organic local lunch. Tickets are available directly in The Urban Co-op or on Eventbrite.
