Limerick Dragons to hold a Dragon Boat Breast Cancer Flower Ceremony this Saturday, May 4 at 2:30pm
Limerick Dragons will hold a Dragon Boat Breast Cancer Flower Ceremony during Riverfest, a touching and symbolic tradition often observed at dragon boat races involving breast cancer survivor teams.
The group welcome participants to join them at Arthur’s Quay Park, the group will be on the water and will drop pink flowers in the river, remembering all who have been affected by breast cancer.
The ceremony holds deep significance in the community and is a powerful moment that honours those who have been affected by breast cancer and celebrates their strength, resilience, and camaraderie.
During the ceremony, each member of the Limerick Dragons, along with their families and supporters, will be presented with a pink flower, a symbol of breast cancer awareness.
As the team makes its way out in the River Shannon, they will pause near the Arthur’s Quay waterfront and take a moment to reflect and pay homage to the courage of those affected by breast cancer.
The team members reflect, remember, and pay tribute to those who have battled breast cancer, including survivors, those currently undergoing treatment, and those who have passed away.
The flowers will then be released onto the water as a symbolic gesture of remembrance, hope, and solidarity in what will be a moving and poignant moment highlighting the spirit and support that exists in the Dragonboat and the beast cancer survivor community.
The Dragon Boat Breast Cancer Flower Ceremony not only serves as a tribute to those affected by breast cancer but also as a powerful reminder of the importance of raising awareness, supporting one another, and finding strength in unity.
By holding the ceremony, the group will hope to inspire the heart and minds of the community as well as honouring the courage and resilience of the more then 3,400 people impacted by breast cancer each year in Ireland.
