The seventh annual Dromtransa Challenge will take place this Saturday, October 16, starting from Dromtrasna National School, Abbeyfeale.

The Challenge offers something for everyone, including a Kids 2km Run, a 4km Walk, and a 5km and 10km Run.

The 5K and 10K runs will be chip timed, and trophies will be presented to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd male and female participants in these runs.

Dromtrasne Challenge perpetual cups will be presented to the first male and first female winners in the 10K run.

A finisher medal will be available to participants in all events.

The 2km Kids run will start at 10am, followed by the other events which will begin at 11am.

The Challenge is organised by the voluntary Dromtrasna Challenge Committee, who are committed to providing a fun-filled family-orientated community event. They hope it will both inspire and ignite all that is good in the human spirit, as well as provide an event that will become known for its professionalism in all aspects of its organisation.

Since 2014, the Dromtrasna Challenge, with the help of their sponsors and supporters, has raised over €88,000 for worthy local charities.

This year, the Challenge is in aid of Milford Care Centre, which is a voluntary, not-for-profit organisation and registered charity.

It was first established by the Little Company of Mary Sisters in 1928 and provides multiple services such as Hospice at Home, a Nursing Home, Day Care for older people and those with palliative care needs, as well as Bereavement Support for families.

The centre aims to provide the highest quality of care to their patients and residents, as well as their family and friends, both in the areas of palliative care and services to the older person.

They strive to live to their core values of justice, compassion, respect, communication, and accountability.

Milford Care Centre would like to thank everyone for their support to-date and hope to see as many people participate as they can.
