The 1916 Easter Rising St Munchins College commemoration will be held on March 15, at 2pm, at St Munchin’s College, Corbally, Limerick.

St. Munchin’s has already achieved so much in recent years with their anti-bullying programme and their recent Green Flag Award in 2014. The all-boys secondary school have been taking their latest project, the 1916 Easter Rising commemoration, just as serious. All students, teachers and staff have been brought onboard the project. Each education department within the school are coming together for the re-enactment of this historic event, including; the Drama, History, English, Art, Gaeilge and Technology Departments.

As the oldest secondary school in Limerick, St Munchin’s has a layered history and so historical events like so are very much respected and celebrated by the students and teachers. The college, its students and teachers. pride themselves on all of their achievements and developments. In 2014, the school made some major changes to the building’s appearance. The College’s life saw a new €7.8 million development of their campus in Corbally, Limerick, by the banks of the Shannon. This project started in February 2012 and was completed during the summer months of 2014. In good St Munchin’s style, the official opening of the new building in 2015, was marked with celebrations and the unveiling of a commemorative plaque by Minister for Education Jan O’Sullivan.

As an interactive event, the audience will be encouraged to get involved by singing. You are asked to come dressed in our national colour, green, for 1916, or even better, in 1916 style clothing. This will be an outdoor event, held in the courtyard to the back of the building. All parents and family of St Munchin’s students are most welcome.
