Every Child is Your Child (ECIYC) launches 12 Days of Christmas Campaign to bring the “magic of Christmas” to children living in Direct Provision in Limerick

From December 1st to December 12th, the group will work towards daily milestones in a bid to reach their overall goal

Every Child is Your Child (ECIYC), a community group dedicated to ensuring the education, and empowerment of every child, particularly those living in the Direct Provision system has launched its 12 Days of Christmas campaign, aiming to support 150 children living in Direct Provision in Limerick and the surrounding areas.

Speaking about the fundraising campaign, organisers said, “Our goal is to raise €5,000 by December 12th to bring the magic of Christmas to 150 children living in Direct Provision in Limerick and the surrounding areas. Each child will pick out a special gift worth €30 from the Smyths Toys Catalogue, and we’re committed to making sure they get exactly what they wished for this holiday season.”

Over the past years, ECIYC has run their annual Christmas Campaign on a national level, reaching out to communities across the country for support, but the group are focusing on the local community this year, saying, “As so many wonderful communities across the country are stepping up with their own initiatives. It’s amazing to see, and now we’re calling on our community to come together and help us fulfil our promise to these kids.”

ECIYC was founded with the vision of building a society where every child is valued, supported, and given equal opportunities to reach their full potential, they say, “We recognise the importance of nurturing the younger generation and the positive impact it can have on the entire community.”

From December 1st to December 12th, the group will work towards daily milestones in a bid to reach their overall goal, saying, “If we exceed our target, even better—we’ll be able to bring joy to even more children!”

This Christmas, Every Child is Your Child is launching its 12 Days of Christmas Campaign to bring joy to 150 children living in the International Protection Accommodation System (IPAS) in Limerick and surrounding areas. With a fundraising goal of €5,000, the campaign aims to provide each child with a gift worth €30, as chosen by the children themselves from the Smyths Toys Catalogue.

The organisers say no donation is too little and that “every euro counts”

In a year when many families are benefiting from the government’s double child benefit payment, children in Direct Provision are excluded from this vital support. These children, who have already endured so much, deserve to feel the magic and warmth of Christmas like every other child. Our campaign seeks to bridge this gap and ensure that no child feels left out this holiday season.

“Our goal is simple: to show these children that they are seen, valued, and not forgotten during this special time of year,” said Ms Vuma. “Each child has hand-picked their gift, and we are committed to fulfilling those wishes. With the help of the community, we can make this Christmas magical for them.”

The organisers say no donation is too little and that “every euro counts”, they said on their GoFundMe page, “So please donate through our GoFundMe link and share the campaign far and wide. We always welcome any other ways of gifting unique to you and corporate gifting, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us to chat this through. Together, let’s make this a Christmas to remember for these children and show them how much they are valued and cared for.”
