A Go Fund Me campaign has been set up by Joanne O’Callaghan from Effin, Limerick, to give assurance and support to the local children, schools and teachers that they will have a safe, educational and fun return to school. All donations to the fundraiser will be divided between Effin Green Kids Preschool and Effin National School Parents Association. The main aim is to further extend and enrich the outdoor learning environments of these schools.

The funds raised will go towards purchasing fruit trees and a Willow Den Building Kit for Effin Green Kids Preschool. They will also go towards building Effin National School’s new outdoor classroom. Donating to the development of this outdoor space will support the physical, intellectual, emotional and social development of the local children and provide a learning environment that is adapting to modern times of social distancing and outdoor learning.

So far, €3,239 has been raised of the €2,500 target, wonderful news for the Effin community.

Joanne said, “Having our children return to school brought many emotions but mostly gratitude. Together we can support the children, schools and teachers in a safe, educational and fun return to school.  All donations will be divided between Effin Green Kids Preschool and Effin National School Parents Association. The main aim is to further extend and enrich the fabulous outdoor learning environment.”

Joanne describes the environment as a child’s third teacher, highlighting the importance of these much-needed funds. Donations are still being accepted and any donation helps, big or small.

Joanne, seeing the generosity from everyone online said, “On behalf of the Effin Parents Association and Niamh O’Sullivan, thank you so much to everybody for the overwhelming support to the GoFundMe page! We are so happy that we have smashed the targets set in under a week! We will be raising the bar on the target so that we can support the kids even more so your continued support would be very much appreciated.”

To thank everyone for their donations, Joanne welcomed everyone to join her for ‘Pay It Forward Zoom Yoga’, starting this Wednesday, March 24, at 8 pm. Effin Schools Fundraiser
