25-year-old Limerick woman Eimear McManus awarded by acclaimed marketing publication The Drum
Limerick-born woman and founder of The Digital Works, Eimear McManus, has been included in The Drum’s ‘50 Under 30’ list. Based on nominations from readers and curated with the help of a panel of industry experts, the list sets out to celebrate female digital talent.
25-year-old Eimear who hails from Raheen was educated at Crescent College Comprehensive before graduating from the University of Limerick in 2015. Growing up within the target demographic of most major social platforms, McManus was particularly attuned to each channel and sensed an opportunity to turn her enthusiasm and innate understanding of social media into a business.
After initially freelancing for brands and finding steady business, McManus took the leap of opening her own agency in 2017, founding Digital Works, which operates both in Ireland with an office in Limerick, and in London. Digital Works which counts a team of three full-time staff, focuses on supporting SMEs, with its primary focus to helps smaller brands understand and access social media channels in a cost-effective way. Eimear’s clients include award-winning beauty brand, Skinny Tan, fashion house Julien McDonald, retailer fab.com and funding solution Swoop.
Commenting on making the list, Eimear said: “Digital Works is less than a year old so it’s both rewarding and motivating for our work to be recognised by The Drum in such a short time. It’s really exciting to represent Ireland, and of course, Limerick, particularly given the standard of talent included. This list not only showcases women but also those under 30 which is incredibly satisfying and starts the conversation that age and acumen are not correlated.
“At 25, I am of the youngest women on the list but I’ve never allowed being young, or being a woman, to define my potential. Interestingly, if people know my age before they meet me, their respect for me can go down. When they find out my age after they meet me, they respect me more which is really interesting. I’ve often gone into meetings with one of my colleagues who is older than me and because he looks older they think he’s the boss.
“Our work sees us helping SMEs access the world of social media in the most impactful way to bring about real, positive change for a business. I have recruited an exceptionally talented team and our client list and growth over the last ten months is a testament to our shared vision. As the business grows, we look forward to increasing our footprint here in Ireland and supporting homegrown businesses reach their full digital potential.”
