Eleanor O’Brien is a Limerick-born theatre and film actress whose credits include The Last Right, Fair City, and Blasts from the Past.  

There will be a wine reception and red carpet in Belltable to welcome IFTA nominated actress Eleanor O’Brien to the 8 pm Báite screening on Monday, April 13. After the film she will be taking part in a post show Q&A facilitated by Dr. Jenny McMahon.

Eleanor O’Brien is a Limerick-born theatre and film actress whose credits include The Last Right, Fair City, and Blasts from the Past.  She has become a familiar part of Limerick City’s arts scene through her performances at Lime Tree Theatre. Eleanor has appeared in three Lime Tree Theatre pantomimes — Jack and the Beanstalk, Aladdin, and Rapunzel. She has also been a part of development programs in Belltable for the past 10 years. The Lime Tree Theatre and Belltable wish her the warmest congratulations on the success of Báite.

In Báite, Eleanor O’Brien plays Peggy Casey, a 23-year-old who runs her family’s pub in a rural Gaeltacht village in 1975. Peggy is determined to keep the pub going against her siblings’ wishes to sell, and the discovery of a body in the lake threatens both her livelihood and the wider community. Eleanor is nominated for the Lead Actress in Film category at the 2026 Irish Film and Television Awards (IFTA) for her performance.

Don’t miss your chance to enjoy the hauntingly atmospheric Irish-language film Báite. The film will be presented in Irish with English subtitles. This murder mystery thriller will be screening at Belltable April 13th at 5pm and 8pm. Báite is part of Belltable’s weekly IFI@Belltable screenings which take place at 5pm & 8pm every Monday evening.

Eleanor O’Brien is an award winning actress & writer. Most recently she starred in Báite (TG4) playing the lead role of Peggy. She also features in Lynley (BBC), Foundation(Apple TV), Disenchanted (Disney), The Wonder, and The Last Right playing opposite Colm Meaney and Brian Cox. She played the lead role Emily Blast in RTÉ’s Blasts From The Past filming two seasons. Her short film Honey Butter screened at the Richard Harris International Film Festival. Eleanor is recognised for her nuanced performances & contributing to a positive set environment that supports strong creative productions.

Richard is a presenter, producer, songwriter and actor. He was named the Limerick Person of the Year (2011) and won an online award at the Metro Éireann Media and Multicultural Awards (2011) for promoting multi-culturalism online. Richard says that the ilovelimerick.com concept is very much a community driven project that aims to document life in Limerick. So, that in 20 years time people can look back and remember the events that were making the headlines.
