Run on a voluntary basis, Elemental Festival takes the whole year to plan and deliver. Elemental has built a reputation for delivering a high-quality, fun, inclusive festival, with community, heritage and the arts in all their guises at its core.

Elemental 2018 is a reconstructed festival and to reflect that the festival has been renamed to Elemental Presents.

Over the course of the years that the Elemental Festival has been running, events have taken place in lots of different venues, but this year Elemental has chosen four venues for all the events taking place to make it a more easier access and hopefully enjoyable experience for everyone.

“This year’s festival is short and sweet compared to what we are used to. We usually have an awful lot of events on over the weekend, but this year is more compact but it’s nice to have a bit of time to delve into each one,” Jennifer Allen, Creative Director of the Elemental Presents 2018 told ilovelimerick.

The Irish Chamber Orchestra is kicking off the weekend of events by playing a ‘Roll Over Beethoven’ concert in the University Concert Hall at 8 pm on Friday evening this is sure to be a great start to a weekend packed full of events. Flamboyant Corsican conductor, Jean Christophe Spinosi will be at the helm of this magnificent concert.

Other events include learning workshops, model making workshops and even an anniversary screening of ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit’ which is celebrating its thirtieth year since being released.

One of the most exciting events to take place over the weekend is the Breadwinner Storyboard Workshop which will be a lesson on the art of making an animated movie. Artist Giovanna Ferrari will be teaching the workshop and it will take place in the Limerick City Library. Ferrari worked on the multi-award winning and Oscar Nominated animated film ‘The Breadwinner’.

Jennifer would like to express her sheer admiration to everyone that has helped piece this year’s Elemental Presents and looks forward to seeing everyone at one of the many events taking place over the course of the weekend. Jennifer would also like to thank the JP McManus Benevolent Fund for their constant support in funding the festival over the years.

This year’s Elemental Presents is going to be a great occasion for all ages whether you are a young child who is eager to take part in one of the Lego workshops in the Fab Lab Limerick or whether you are eager to view one of the shows in the University Concert Hall in the University of Limerick.
