Emma Cross Ryan, founder of Embody Limerick and her husband, Wayne went through a difficult time eight months ago after Emma gave birth prematurely to her son, Mark who had to recover in the neonatal unit in the University Maternity Hospital Limerick.

The event in the Castletroy Town Centre was to highlight this issue and to raise funds for donations for the neonatal unit in the University Maternity Hospital Limerick.

“A little tornado came into my life and he was premature. The event this morning is something that means so much to me and a lot of mums to give back to the neonatal unit over in the maternity hospital,” Emma, the event organiser told ilovelimerick.

The event was used to empower fitness and health among young children and parents. The turnout was a huge success and almost every store in the town centre provided either refreshments, free samples of their products or displays for their stores in aid of the event. “My business is here in Castletroy Town Centre and there’s a great community here, all the businesses support each other and when I put the idea out there people just loved it especially because it’s something that touches a lot of families,” Emma said.

Activities included a bar fitness class, jumping fitness going on that took place on trampolines, art and crafts, face painting, baby first aid training, music from DJ Shane Power and so much more.

Emma says she cannot express her appreciation to everyone that works at the maternity hospital. “They’re not just midwives over in the maternity and unless you’ve been there you don’t understand the huge impact it has. I just wanted to give more.”

“I want to say from the bottom of my heart a huge thank you to everybody and I hope that this will become an annual event here in the town centre and that it will grow and grow every year but for this first one it has been incredible and I’m completely overwhelmed,” Emma concluded.
