Limerick singer-songwriter, Emma Langford EP launch to be hosted at Dolan’s Warehouse with support from Nile St. James in Limerick City on Saturday, June 18.

Displaying her talents, Emma’s song ‘Tug O’War’ released on Youtube in February 2016 has been seen by over 2,000 viewers to date; and has inspired the production of her EP.

Speaking to I Love Limerick after her performance at the launch of LGBTQ Pride on June 7, the young singer-songwriter said, “I wrote this song about anxiety, and it appealed to a lot of people,” adding how it showed her that people cared about her work and the attention ‘put a fire’ under her, making her produce.

“I crowd funded the EP so that rallied the support. It was amazing; people were so supportive. The goal was €3,000 and it raised €3,500, which was reached halfway through the campaign, which was totally unprecedented. Amazing stuff,” she said.

At Emma Langford EP launch at Dolan’s people can expect what Emma describes as, “a nice high energy night, that is pretty mellow at the same time,” describing her work as a ‘melting pot’ containing a mixture of styles and genres.

Emma’s work has been described as predominantly folk and blues, but when working with the EP producer, Clint Fitzgerald, in West Cork, he added what Emma calls a ‘lovely Latin beat’ influenced by The Buena Vista Social Club.

Emma has shown an interest in music from a young age and began to learn the basics of guitar from her mother before taking it on seriously as a teenager.

“I’ve always been singing, my whole life, I developed nodules when I was 12 because I was singing too much; so I had to give it up for a couple of years, but I’ve been singing from five years old,” she said.

In 2013, Emma graduated from the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance at the University of Limerick, where she honed her technique and vocal range after travelling for a short period this will be her first E.P.

“The objective of the E.P. is to establish who I am as an artist at this stage, I hope to progress, write more stuff and cover more social topics. The E.P. is really special to me, it involved people I really enjoy working with,” adding a special thank you to her friend Peter Hanagan who has been helping from day one of her EP.

Emma Langford EP launch is scheduled for 9pm on Saturday,  June 18, tickets are €10 and are available online here booking is advised.
