World premiere of the Adapt Services film “Free” on domestic violence is unveiling on Sunday with Emma Murphy

Emma Murphy, a Domestic Violence Activist, Global Public Speaker and Radio Presenter on Good Morning Dublin on 93.2fmis going to be the guest speaker for the International 16 Days of action against violence against women 2018.

World premiere of the Adapt Services film “Free” on domestic violence is unveiling on Sunday with Emma Murphy

The world premiere of the short film “Free” will take place on International 16 Days of action against violence against women 2018 on November 25 at Life Centre, Henry Street in Limerick.

Written and produced by the road to recovery group in Adapt Services, this film “Free” tells the story of one woman’s decision to break the cycle of domestic abuse.

The premiere will be along with excerpts from an award-winning play  “Walking Away”  by Helena Enright performed by the Northside Misfits Community Drama Group. This work is a testimonial play where survivors of domestic abuse were interviewed by Helena.

There will also be an exhibition of artwork created in Adapt over the years and a special appearance by stilt walkers and The Cut Out Dolls.

Emma Murphy, a Domestic Violence Activist, Global Public Speaker and Radio Presenter on Good Morning Dublin on 93.2fmis going to be the guest speaker for this year’s event.

Emma works directly with women experiencing domestic violence, she also speaks in schools, colleges and many global conferences around the world. She has travelled to many countries giving speeches in support of women’s right. She has traveled to Australia to speak at the National Family Violence Summit, Cyprus to speak on the  stage, The Hague to speak at the Third world Women’s Conference and here in Ireland, Emma has spoken at many conferences to continue to share her message and raise awareness around Domestic Violence in the hope to help even just one person.

Ahead of the International 16 Days of action against violence against women 2018, Limerick “Purple Up” campaign has already taken place around the city supporting women’s right.

The Aim of the 2018 ‘Purple-Up Limerick’ campaign is to highlight the prevalence of violence against women in Limerick and show solidarity with those who are affected by abuse and violence in their close relationships, which is also the main focus for the International 16 Days of action against violence against women.

The 16 Days Campaign Opposing Violence against Women is an important opportunity to raise awareness and call for changes at an international, national and local level to make women and children safe from abuse.
