EmployAbility Limerick, a specialised employment service that provides support services for those living with an injury, illness or disability, was launched today at its new premises on Mallow Street. The service also tends to local business recruitment needs throughout the Limerick city and county areas.

All services provided are free, not only for clients but also for employers, with free recruitment and employment services provided for potential employers. Help and support is offered to applicants, to ease people back into employment and to overcome any hurdles they may face.

Jerry O’Dea, metropolitan mayor of Limerick, and Alan Quinlan, former Ireland and Munster rugby player, attended the launch to show their support for the EmployAbility Limerick, cutting the ribbon and posing for photos to commemorate the day.

People eligible for help from EmployAbility Limerick can make an appointment with one of the people on staff, and can drop into the new offices which are wheel-chair accessible, ensuring that anyone with disability has access.

This new building, along with new branding, is helping to revitalise EmployAbility Limerick, with their new tag-line, ‘empowering people, supporting business’, showcasing a simple, but effective plan.

The dedicated team has stated on their website: “Because we know the big contribution people with disabilities can make to the local economy, we are continually looking for more employers to promote equal opportunities and bridge the gap by including employees with disabilities in their workplaces.”

When meeting with staff, a potential client can discuss any training and employment skills they have, and will then have that skillset broken down by the job coaches employed there, to find the best possible position for them. The service is focused around a welcoming and relaxed environment, allowing a potential client to come and talk to the staff, and later decide if the services provided are right for them.

EmployAbility Limerick emphasises a sense of social inclusion, encouraging those who are struggling to get back into the workforce due to injury, illness or disability, to avail of their services, provided they are between the ages of 18-65. Motivation is key here and a good effort from both parties involved is necessary for success.
