This transformation replaced outdated facilities with a bright, welcoming café-style environment equipped with modern appliances. • A fully equipped sensory room to support children’s sensory needs and emotional regulation. This purpose-built space features state-of-the-art equipment, including sensory play panels, a curtained dark den, mood lighting, image projection, and soft play areas. Enable Ireland officially opened a new kitchen and sensory room at its Family Support and Respite Hub in Delta Retail Park, Limerick.

The celebration was marked with a Christmas Coffee Morning, bringing together families, staff, and invited guests to mark this significant milestone. Taking part in the official opening ceremony and representing the Mayor of Limerick’s office was Councillor Sarah Beasley.

The event also provided an opportunity for Enable Ireland to express heartfelt thanks to IDEX Pump Technologies, whose generous donation, support and commitment made this project possible. Support from Eddie Considine and Ger Corry, Foundation Coordinators with IDEX Foundation and their team enabled the completion of this significant development project at the Hub.

Additional substantial funding from IDEX Foundation has been donated to support the next phase of the project – improvements to the children’s Recreation Room and Sports Hall

Speaking at the event, Siobhan Garvey Enable Ireland Respite Coordinator, “The collaboration with IDEX Pump has been exceptional, combining financial support with hands-on involvement in the project for their staff. These new facilities will greatly enhance the experience for the children we support. We are deeply grateful to IDEX Pump Technologies for their unwavering commitment and generosity.”

Enable Ireland Limerick Family Support & Respite Service has been providing services to children with physical, sensory, intellectual disabilities and autism for over 25 years, in partnership with the HSE. Today, Enable Ireland’s team of 60 family support staff assists more than 250 children across Limerick city and county, delivering vital services such as in-home support, community inclusion, and social activity groups.

Richard is a presenter, producer, songwriter and actor. He was named the Limerick Person of the Year (2011) and won an online award at the Metro Éireann Media and Multicultural Awards (2011) for promoting multi-culturalism online. Richard says that the ilovelimerick.com concept is very much a community driven project that aims to document life in Limerick. So, that in 20 years time people can look back and remember the events that were making the headlines.
