Enable Ireland breathes a new life into Limerick City Centre by opening Garden Centre

Enable Ireland has recently opened a brand new Garden & Gift Store on Honan’s Quay in Limerick City, next to their existing Enable Ireland charity shop.

The Garden Centre has been in the works for almost two years, with the site only recently been released to Enable Ireland. The previously derelict site was in bad condition when Enable Ireland took it over, however, due to the generosity and help of locals, the site is now decorated with beautiful flower beds and purple fences.

The site the Garden Centre is located on was a formerly vacant site for 13 years, after Roches Garden Centre exited the market and moved to Debenhams in 2006.

Pat McDonnell Paints supplied the paint for the fences and railings, along with the raised flower beds. Creative Design Limerick provided the center with stone for the raised flower beds, while Provincial Floor Coverings Limited gave the center grass. On top of this, Lemonfield pottery power-washed the site, and chemically cleaned a previously unused green shed.

Enable Ireland provides services to children and adults with disabilities and their families from over 40 locations in 15 counties. Covering childhood to adulthood their expert teams work with the individual and their family on a plan for each life stage.

The new Garden Centre is in a wide, open area with also space for parking. The center provides nice garden goods, homeware, gifts, and even Christmas Trees!

The Enable Ireland shop is located right beside the center and accepts donations of unwanted items to be resold or recycled. They love to receive donations of clean clothing, shoes and accessories, ornaments, towels and linen, crockery, cutlery and glassware, collectibles and antiques, DVDs and mobile phones.

Cóilín Fisher, Supply Chain Manager of Enable Ireland, said, “We are delighted to be opened. Obviously, it is November so it’s a tough time to get going but fingers crossed we will be well up and running for spring. It was a real derelict site when we took it over but we couldn’t we happier with the outcome. We will have Christmas trees arriving next week and can’t wait for the new year.”
