The Liam McCarthy cup made its way to Enable Ireland Limerick Adult Services Centre at Quinns Cross, County Limerick on Wednesday October 28.

Collette Bolger works full-time at Enable Ireland and she explained what this special day was about: “Mary Bergin is an Enable Ireland service user from county Limerick, all of her family are Limerick supporters but her grandfather was a Kilkenny man so Mary defies all of the rest of her family and is a huge Kilkenny supporter.”

“Since she was 12 years old she has wanted to hold the Liam McCarthy cup. She has tried and tried but never got around to holding it until today. Mary has been an Enable Ireland service user for seven years now.”

“Here at Enable Ireland we encourage all of our service users to set goals and we help them to achieve those goals, so this is Mary’s goal.”

Killkenny Senior Hurling Team Assistant Denis Cody was on hand with the cup and was more than happy to fulfil Mary’s goal. Limerick U21 hurling captain Diarmuid Byrnes had the on Bord Gáis Energy All-Ireland cup on hand following their successful year.

There was lots of fun and plenty of excitement for everyone at Enable Ireland Limerick Adult Services Centre as they all celebrated and shared Mary’s wonderful experience.
