Artists proposals being sought for EVA International 2018
EVA International 2018 – Ireland’s Biennial is pleased to announce the Open Call for artists’ proposals for their 38th edition in 2018, curated by Inti Guerrero (Bogotá/Hong Kong).
Since its inception in 1977, EVA has maintained, expanded and reformulated its Open Call as a tool for curatorial research, democratizing the biennial spectrum for art practices across media, generations and locations.
Every two years EVA International works with guest curators to create an unforgettable 12-week programme of exhibitions and events that engage with the people and city of Limerick, Ireland.
“I am deeply honoured to have been invited to be the curator of the 2018 edition of EVA International – Ireland’s biennial; a groundbreaking exhibition that has contributed to reimagining internationalisms,” expressed Curator Inti Guerrero.
“I look forward to working with artists and the EVA team to develop the biennial program for the city, its audiences, and continuing the dialogue with previously appointed curators whom I hold in great regard,” continues Mr. Guerrero.
For EVA International 2018, the revision and selection process of the Open Call can be taken as a call to respond to “the current state”. This could be a reflection on the current state of your work, the current state of government, the current state of your family, the current state of art history, the current state of politics, the current state of your illness, the current state of religion, or a reflection on how the state of today reminds you of the state of yesterday.
Rather than a monolithic thematic exhibition, EVA International 2018 has hopes to establish a cosmology of exhibitions; a kaleidoscopic ecology of intertwining group shows with essayistic, retinal and bodily narratives. The 38th edition of EVA International will be open to the public from 14 April to 8 July 2018 across various locations, institutions and public spaces in Limerick City.
EVA International has worked with some of the world’s leading artists and curators, bringing nothing less than outstanding exhibitions to audiences on the west coast of Ireland.
The online application process is now open and closes at 5pm (GMT) on Tuesday, January 31, 2017. Selected artists will receive artist fees and production budgets as appropriate.
