EVA Open Site Research Day in Limerick City and County
EVA are happy to announce a one-day schedule of cultural meanderings through Limerick City and County, led by Bernardine Carroll and Carl Doran, on Friday 23 August. The schedule includes visits to key sites of social and political history, as well as introductions to environmental issues of the region.
The event is free and open to the public, but numbers are strictly limited and booking is essential. The schedule will begin from 10am and will conclude at 4pm. A minibus will be provided. Attendees are advised to bring their own refreshments and wet weather clothing. Please contact [email protected] to book a place.
This public event also forms part of the research process for artists Bora Baboci (Albania) and Anca Benera and Arnold Estefan (Romania), undertaking residencies in Limerick through August in the development of new commissioned artwork for the 39th EVA International, 2020. The residencies are supported by the Magic Carpets platform programme
Magic Carpets is a platform uniting 13 European partners and intended for travelling emerging artists to work in socially engaged and responsible art field (visual art, public art, community art, exhibitions, performances, documentary theatre, online art, etc) to research and to implement new productions together with local artists and local communities.
Kaunas Biennial is leading the Creative Europe platform titled “Magic Carpets” which involves 13 cultural organisations from EU and candidate countries. Together with Folkestone Fringe (United Kingdom), Ideias Emergentes – Imerge (Portugal), LAB 852 (Croatia), Latitudo S.r.l. (Italy), META Cultural Foundation (Romania), New Theatre Institute of Latvia (Latvia), Novo Kulturno Naselje (Serbia), Prague Biennale (Czech Republic), Tbilisi CCA (Georgia), KUNSTrePUBLIK e. EVA International is Ireland’s Biennial of Contemporary Art. EVA leads in the commissioning and curating of contemporary art by Irish and international artists, culminating in a bi-annual programme of artistic encounters, exhibitions, and education projects, that take place across venues in Limerick city and beyond. EVA’s vision is ‘To lead in creating experiences and encounters of world-class contemporary art that activate Limerick as a place of creative endeavour and cultural destination’.
EVA International is supported by the Arts Council of Ireland, Limerick City and County Council Arts Office, Limerick School of Art & Design, Limerick Institute of Technology and works in close partnership with Limerick City Gallery of Art. EVA International has a proactive approach to collaboration and partnerships, working with organisations across Limerick, Ireland and internationally.
