From The GDR to Dromcolliher: The Story of Irish Dresden

This festive season, Limerick Museum is delighted to host an exhibition exploring the fascinating history of the much famed and much-loved local porcelain company Irish Dresden.
The exhibition explores the intriguing story of Dromcolliher based, porcelain factory, Irish Dresden and how it came to be. From war torn beginnings in East Germany to the adventure of starting anew in 1960s County Limerick, to major international success, the story of the Saar family is one of resilience and determination.
Featuring an array of exquisite Irish Dresden porcelain figurines, some of which are rarely seen, this exhibition will celebrate the company that could, and the curiosity, opportunity, and legacy which it brought to a small corner of rural Limerick.
