Eventmaster named Entrepreneur of the Year 2026 in the Limerick Final of the National Enterprise Awards

Eventmaster has been named as Entrepreneur of the Year 2026 in the Limerick Final of the National Enterprise Awards, at a ceremony in the Engine Collaboration Centre on Cecil Street, Friday March 27th.

Eventmaster was founded by John Cleary, who created a ticketing and back-end booking platform which is used by a significant number of organisations around the country. They are a growing business and have their sights on internationalising the business. They are located in Arthur’s Quay House offices.

Other awards went to Fíor Jewellery – Digital Retail Award, Bandbireland.com – Best Emerging Enterprise Award, Rigneys Farm – Sustainability Award, Ecoaer – Innovation Excellence Award, and Crystal Lean Solutions – Export Award.

The competition is organised by Ireland’s network of Local Enterprise Offices (LEO) to give recognition to the contribution of micro enterprises to the National Economy. In 2025, 531 new jobs were created in LEO Limerick supported SME’s, a 31 per cent increase from 2024. Net employment gain in Limerick of 259 in 2025 and 310 total small businesses employing 2,289 people supported by LEO Limerick.

Speaking at the awards event, Mike O’Byrne of LEO Limerick said, “LEO Limerick is proud to serve as the first stop for small and medium businesses throughout Limerick City and County, offering extensive supports at every stage of their journey. These awards shine a spotlight on local entrepreneurs, giving them the opportunity to showcase their achievements beyond their own networks. They recognise the vision and determination of those creating jobs and making a lasting contribution to the economic and social fabric of our communities”

Eventmaster will now go forward as Limerick’s representative in the National Enterprise Awards on June 18th in Dublin’s Mansion House.

Richard is a presenter, producer, songwriter and actor. He was named the Limerick Person of the Year (2011) and won an online award at the Metro Éireann Media and Multicultural Awards (2011) for promoting multi-culturalism online. Richard says that the ilovelimerick.com concept is very much a community driven project that aims to document life in Limerick. So, that in 20 years time people can look back and remember the events that were making the headlines.
